The Run it Forward Foundation is an establishment created by Marilyn Tarkalson. The foundation assists in covering entry fees, housing, food, apparel, coaching expenses, and other related goods and services for events, including indoor/outdoor track season meets, junior Olympics, and national running competitions.
The Run it Forward Foundation assisted several Canyon Ridge students in being able to go to Nike Nationals, in Eugene Oregon, to compete for an All-American title in June 2023; these students included Dominic Lopes, Derrick Bloomstrom, David Garcia, and James Tarkalson.
Mrs. Tarkalson also plans to take several Canyon Ridge High School students to Nike Nationals this year as well.
Mrs. Tarkalson is the mother of four boys, two of whom have graduated from Canyon Ridge High School, and one who is currently a junior at Canyon Ridge.
Mrs. Tarkalson has a passion for running and participating in marathons; this April, Tarkalson was eligible and competed in the Boston Marathon; this was her 7th year qualifying and competing. Mrs. Tarkalson created the foundation to “support the growth and development of young athletes.”
On the Run it Forward Foundation website, Mrs. Tarkalson explains that participating in running events can positively impact adolescents’ mental and physical well-being and assist in the child’s character development. The Run it Forward Foundation’s goal is to ¨create a community where future runners can thrive and develop their skills, regardless of their financial circumstances.¨
Mrs. Tarkalson encourages all children, teens, adults, and families to participate in the Run it Forward Foundation’s event on Saturday, June 1st, 2024. This event includes a half marathon, a 10K, and a 1-mile kid’s ninja obstacle course.
All proceeds will go to the Run it Forward Foundation’s mission to assist young athletes.
